An agent for Ivalua delivery, starting with testing
Axl Test writes test scenarios from your design package, runs them against your Ivalua environment and tells you where the environment and the design disagree. It is in pilot, and a Modali operator approves every run.
What Axl Engine is
Axl Engine (Axl for short) is Modali's agent for Ivalua delivery. Modali builds it from the work its consultants do on Ivalua programs, and each module takes on one part of that work.
The first module is Axl Test. It covers the testing that usually waits until the end of a release, when there is the least time for it.
Axl Test, the first module
- Scenarios from your design — Axl writes test scenarios from the design package: requirements, user stories and the field dictionary. They read as plain Given/When/Then steps that a business analyst can check.
- Tests that can fail — Axl won't approve a scenario until it has seen that scenario fail. A test that can only pass tells you nothing about the build.
- Safe on your environments — Axl Test changes data only on environments you name for it; production stays read-only.
- Reports you can hand on — Each run produces a PDF and an HTML report, with results by requirement. Scenarios left for manual testing are counted separately, so coverage isn't inflated.
- Defects drafted for you — Each failed scenario gets a defect draft for Jira, Azure DevOps or Ivalua Extranet. A person reviews and files it.
Where it stands
Axl Test is in pilot, not generally available. Modali hosts it and sets it up with each pilot client. Every run waits for a Modali operator to approve it before it touches your Ivalua environment.
See what Axl Test does today, and what is still on the roadmap.
A recent proof of concept
In September 2026, Modali ran Axl's test agent against the intake module of a US state e-procurement platform.
- Axl planned 64 scenarios from the intake design package and field dictionary.
- 36 ran automatically. The other 28 were listed for manual testing and reported separately.
- 21 passed.
- 15 showed a difference between the environment and the design, across 5 of the 30 requirements.
- A later read-only run took 2 minutes 38 seconds.
The design was still provisional and the environment was not yet configured to that version of it. The 15 results were differences to review with the design team, not confirmed defects.
Who it's for
Procurement and IT leaders running an Ivalua program get a record of what was checked against the design, release by release, and what still needs a person.
Systems integrators delivering Ivalua can bring Axl Test into their test phase. Modali hosts it, and the integrator's testers and the client's team see the same runs and reports.
Ivalua's own teams are welcome to see it. We are happy to show how Axl works on an Ivalua environment.
Runs on Modali Accelerate
Axl Engine runs on Modali Accelerate, Modali's delivery workspace. Test projects, environments, runs and reports sit there with the rest of the engagement, and access follows the project's members and roles.
Tell us about your Ivalua program and the release you need to test. We'll show you Axl Test on a working environment and talk through a pilot.
